KEEP CALM & SHINE ON

How to add Golden Milk to your winter routine and feel totally divine.

Ayurveda’s Wisdom has been around for quite a while but, even so, it often feels out of reach for those of us who don’t know where to start from when it comes to Sanskrit, spices and recipes.

Oh well, maybe we can try taking it straight from the gut and add some fun to our Winter dullness with something as simple as a hot drink. A royal one, obviously, featuring miraculous Turmeric and some other exciting dusts.
With Ayurvedic recipes and remedies a great deal of their healing success relies on all those magic, colourful spices which might look like way too exotic but truth is, you can get most of them from your local grocery store or even have them in your kitchen stock already.

For this all-star, easy-to-follow GOLDEN MILK – also known as Haldi Doodh- recipe, you will need Turmeric Powder, Cinnamon (powder or sticks), Cardamom (seeds or powder), a pinch of Black Pepper, some Vegan Milk (ideally coconut or almond), some sesame or coconut oil and any natural sweetener at your choice such as Maple or Agave syrup.

Traditionally considered a tonic elixir, Golden Milk can be drunk anytime but it is particularly recommended if you’re suffering of joints inflammation, digestive discomfort or want to boost your circulatory system and have a radiant, glorious skin.

Get ready for some yellow-gold alchemic time, read below and do not worry if your pot and tools get messy along the process. It’s part of the Divine Plan conspiring for your balance and health, we guarantee.

Dairy-free Golden Milk Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

-2 tablespoons of turmeric powder

– a dusting of fresh cracked/ ground pepper

– a small pinch of ground cardamom, a pinch of ground cinnamon and a pinch of ginger powder

-2 Cups of Almond or Coconut Milk

-2 Tablespoons of Agave or Maple Syrup or 1 to 2 date fruits (optional)

-1 tablespoon of Coconut oil or Sesame oil ( from untoasted seeds)

Procedure:

Mix and stir the ingredients in a bowl or use a blender, until they turn into a smooth, deep yellow liquid.

If using a saucepan you may substitute ground cinnamon with cinnamon sticks instead and let its sensual aroma fill your senses while stirring your superb mixture on low heat. You can also add fresh ginger to make it deliciously spicy.

If using a blender, transfer the golden liquid into a saucepan and heat it on low heat.

Drink your gold preferably warm and while sipping its power, don’t forget to count your blessings, soften your heart and shine your light upon yourself and others.

Namaste.
